About the Book

Book: The Bible Companion Book 6 Psalms
Author: Karen Westbrook Moderow
Genre: Bible Study
Can you tell God how you feel? The Bible Companion Book 6 helps you approach God with both honesty and respect. A simple one-chapter-a-day format lets you engage with Scriptures without the pressure of schedules, homework, or heavy reading loads. Short daily readings and thought-provoking questions connect your story to God’s Word. For personal and group study.
In the Books of Wisdom (Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Songs), God speaks to us in poetry—the language of the heart. In Psalms we mourn, celebrate, and worship with people who run to God in the best and worst seasons of life. Their experiences give us hope. If you feel alone, if you are hurting, if you need grace, join the psalmists who find forgiveness and strength in God’s presence.
Excerpt from the Book
The Psalms are a treasure map that leads us to the Lord. Prosperity, health, and stability are not the goal—these blessings are the overflow of belonging to God. The treasure is God. The Bible shows us how to know Him, and no book brings us into His presence more beautifully than the Psalms.
COMPANION THOUGHT
Name three things you delight in. How do they connect you to God?
Psalm 2
GOD RULES
I have installed my king on Zion, my holy hill.
Psalm 2:6
IN THE SAME WAY THAT Psalm 1 establishes who may enter God’s sanctuary, Psalm 2 establishes that the Lord reigns. The 2nd Psalm was likely written to celebrate the coronation of an Israelite king, but its symbolic meaning surpasses its original setting. God, as the supreme authority in the world, has empowered His anointed one to reign. God Himself has enthroned the new king. The implication is not subtle—to resist the king is to resist God Himself.
Those hearing this psalm during Israel’s kingdom years would have assumed “the Lord’s anointed” referred to David, Solomon, and their successive heirs. After the exile, God’s people would’ve been looking for an earthly king to reestablish the Jewish nation.
